The Endangered Species Act (ESA) provides a framework for the protection of our Nation’s most vulnerable species. Most states also provide regulatory protection for plant and animal species that are rare, threatened, endangered, or at risk of commercial exploitation.
Listed Species Reviews
Northern Gulf routinely conducts listed species reviews as part of the Environmental Assessment process to ensure any potential issues are identified in the early planning stages. Our staff has been involved in countless listed species field surveys and we are certified by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to conduct surveys for the state-threatened gopher tortoise.
ESA Consultations
We are also proud to have led ESA consultations on some of our region’s largest infrastructure projects including Pensacola’s Community Maritime Park and the new Pensacola Bay Bridge, among others. Our work has taken us throughout the Southeast, Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic, Caribbean, and even the South Pacific. We have helped our clients navigate complex requirements necessary to ensure the protection and conservation of marine mammals, sea turtles, beach mice, shorebirds, Gulf sturgeon, seagrasses, and corals.
